And you may be able to get FlexPen® for the same co-pay as a vial. With one pack of 5 NovoLog® Mix 70/30 FlexPen® disposable pens containing 1500 units, you get more than the 1000 units in a vial.

Selected Important Safety Information

Who should not use NovoLog® Mix 70/30?

  • Do not use NovoLog® Mix 70/30 if your blood sugar is too low (hypoglycemia) or you are allergic to any of its ingredients.

How should I take NovoLog® Mix 70/30?

  • NovoLog® Mix 70/30 starts acting fast. If you have type 1 diabetes, inject within 15 minutes before you eat a meal. If you have type 2 diabetes, inject within 15 minutes before or after starting your meal.
  • Inject NovoLog® Mix 70/30 under the skin of your stomach area, upper arms, buttocks, or thighs, but never into a vein or muscle.
  • Do not mix NovoLog® Mix 70/30 with other insulin products or use in an insulin pump.
  • Do not change your dose or type of insulin unless you are told to by your health care provider.
  • Do not share needles, insulin pens, or syringes.
  • Check your blood sugar levels as directed by your health care provider.

Diabetes Patient Assistance Program

Everyone should have access to NovoLog® Mix 70/30. For those without insurance, NovoLog® Mix 70/30 and other Novo Nordisk products may be available free of charge. That's because they are covered by the Novo Nordisk Diabetes Patient Assistance Program. To find out if you're eligible, check the application and guidelines at the Novo Nordisk Diabetes Resource website.

Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Benefit for participating patients

If you're enrolled and your Medicare Part D plan includes NovoLog® Mix 70/30, a portion of the cost of NovoLog® Mix 70/30 may be covered.

If you have Medicare Part D "Extra Help" (also known as LIS) coverage, you pay the same $3.30 or $6.50 co-pay for NovoLog® Mix 70/30 as you do for human pre-mixed insulin (such as Novolin® 70/30).*

*Partial LIS beneficiaries are required to pay up to 15% of drug costs up to the out-of-pocket threshold of $6,657.50. After this threshold, LIS beneficiaries have co-pays of $2.60 for generic drugs and $6.50 for brand-name drugs. Note that human insulin is not a generic drug.
